Pregnant Fish Swimming
Viviparous female fish carry their embryos in their womb until they are fully developed, capable of swimming and feeding on their own. This illustration, that I created for the cover and back cover of my doctoral thesis, shows how the embryos would appear inside the mother. It also depicts the female swimming, highlighting her swollen belly due to pregnancy.
In 2019, this cover was chosen as one of the top 10 by Wageningen University for that year: https://resource.wur.nl/en/show/Coverprice-2019-vote-now.htm
